an expiry date?

Yesterday I just discovered that my faithful compact power is now discontinued.

I put on a brave smile as the brand advisor went on to introduce the newer powders to me. None of his words really registered, cos all that was going through my mind was OH MY GOSH my favourite powder had disappeared from this earth. F O R E V E R.

I kinda did the polite thing and touched some of the newer powders while he explained the product features. But all the while I was thinking that none of these fit my skin color as well as THE favourite. Argh.

As I mourned for my most adored powder, I thought that hey, perhaps everything has an expiry date? Maybe my powder was expired in three years. And secondary school days expire in four years. Perhaps some friendships expire in a few years, some in a few decades – and the same goes for a job? What are the expiry dates of the people and things around me? Ponder ponder ...

Anyways, after the initial shock waned, I am now ready to hunt for a new powder that’s chockfull of new improved ingredients. Green tea extracts, chocolate elements, antioxidants - whatever good stuff I’m in for it! Sometimes it feels a tad tiring to have to hunt for something new when the familiar things are no longer available. But maybe ... it’s a discovery trip that can turn up some nice new surprises.
